Project Overview

In early 2025, a Southeast Asian mining contractor approached Briskslewing with a critical need: their PC200-8 excavator fleet operating in Kalimantan's coal mining region was experiencing premature slew ring wear due to extreme dust ingress and 24/7 operation cycles. Standard OEM replacements were lasting only 6–8 months before developing excessive backlash.

Our engineering team proposed a custom-designed SE series external-gear slew ring with upgraded sealing and a harder raceway material (42CrMo forged steel with induction-hardened raceways to 55–58 HRC). The result: service life extended to over 18 months under the same harsh conditions.

Technical Highlights

  • Custom triple-lip seal design to prevent dust and moisture ingress
  • Induction-hardened raceway: 55–58 HRC surface, 3.5 mm case depth
  • External gear profile: module m=6, Z=168, 20° pressure angle
  • Load capacity: 680 kN axial, 135 kNm overturning moment
  • Grease refill interval extended from 80h to 200h with polyurea-based high-temp grease
  • Pre-assembly ultrasonic inspection and 360° torque test before shipment
