Indonesia’s waters are tough on ship gear – high humidity, salt spray, constant swinging loads. The Tadano Z200 steering gear needed a compact external-gear slewing bearing that could handle corrosion and precision rotation in that environment. We custom-made a mini outer-tooth ring that fits the tight space and stands up to seawater erosion.

We used 42CrMo steel throughout. Raceways are precision-turned and surface-hardened to DIN Class 7 gear accuracy. The labyrinth sealing and anti-corrosion grease channels keep salt mist out, so rust and abrasion don’t become issues during continuous vessel operation. The single-row four-point contact design is compact, perfect for steering gear installations.

Our full procedure includes turning, final inspection, waterproof wrapping, and sealed wooden case packaging – all photo-documented. All dimensions are verified against the customer’s confidential drawings. For vessels running thousands of hours a year, this mini external slewing ring delivers stable, rust-resistant rotation, whether on coastal routes or inland waterways.

  • Custom triple-lip seal design to prevent dust and moisture ingress
  • Induction-hardened raceway: 55–58 HRC surface, 3.5 mm case depth
  • External gear profile: module m=6, Z=168, 20° pressure angle

  • Grease refill interval extended from 80h to 200h with polyurea-based high-temp grease
  • Pre-assembly ultrasonic inspection and 360° torque test before shipment
